He was director of the Paulo Freire Chair at the University of Seville (2009-2013). Among the various awards he has received, the Phyllis M. Cunningham Award for Social Justice, granted by the Adult Education Research Conference in Sacramento (CA, USA) in 2010, stands out. His scholarly work – published in several languages – is related to adult education.
